XOOTIC 2006 Symposium
This year, the XOOTIC Association celebrates its 15-year anniversary. To mark this event, XOOTIC 2006 Symposium has been held on September 21, 2006 at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands.

We want to thank all the speakers, organizers, and especially our enthusiast participants for making this event successfull. See you all next time!

Title
Novel Approaches in Design and Architecture of Embedded Systems

Goal
The goal of this symposium is to introduce recent trends in the design and architecture of embedded systems and to present current industrial alternatives to the Xootic members as well as the broader audience of industry and academia.

Scope
Recently, new paradigms have appeared in the world of embedded systems, such as component based software development, aspect oriented development, and model driven development. Each of these paradigms tries to impose as "the" solution for the strict and sometimes contradictory embedded industry requirements (e.g. low costs, short time-to-market vs. high performance).

Is there a unique solution? Should the new paradigms work together to satisfy industry requirements? Are the current paradigms sufficient to solve the problems or more research needs to be done? What are the industry choices?

This symposium highlights some of these paradigms and their impact on the embedded systems industry.
